Firstly, everyone here at Mock the Flock would like to
wish you a happy and fruitful 2009. We are fast coming up to the first anniversary of Mock the Flock and what
a year it has been . We have highlighted the work of many talented
artists, photographers, writers and poets - started a campaign for an Arts
Centre in the town and held a couple of events including the School Arts
Event which proved very successful.
Unfortunately, roses often come with thorns and over
the past few weeks something of a smear
campaign against us has been doing the rounds. It would appear that a
few noses have been point out of joint and our success has generated
jealousy in more than one quarter. I would like to take this
opportunity to say that these silly allegations are totally without
foundation and have been started with those who have perhaps found that the magazine has
not turned out to be the personal platform for their own talents as they had
wished. As editor, I make no apology for this as the whole raison
d'être behind MTF is to promote the work of as many people in this
community as possible, without prejudice - and not as an exclusive
club.
Further, Alison Mackenzie-Taylor , who started out as Art
Editor, has taken the decision that
she can no longer continue with the position (which she resigned from in
November) and
feels that as she needs to concentrate on personal
projects . Some of you may have recently
seen some of her work at the Riverhead Theatre in
December. She has also resigned her position on the arts centre
committee.
So , I start 2009 in philosophical mood , but
also optimistic for the second year of the magazine and what it might
bring! Do please keep supporting MTF - for what it stands for in the
community and what it is achieving little by little in supporting the arts
in this area of Lincolnshire.
